Witnesses sought over wounding of two at supported accommodation

Police are investigating what prompted an attack on a second floor flat in East London late on Saturday that left a two-year-old girl severely injured.

Emergency services rushed the victim to Royal Free Hospital at about 18:45 BST but she later died of her injuries at 18:50.

At the rear of the building, witnesses said the woman kicked a two-year-old girl in the head.

A 28-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of GBH wounding, GBH causing serious injury, false imprisonment and assault causing actual bodily harm.

The man in custody was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
